한국 남성 최초로 여성학 박사학위를 받았다. 현재는 서경대학교 연구원으로 돌봄윤리, 젠더와 남성성, 해외입양 역사를 연구하고 있으며, 돌봄윤리와 여성학 연구를 통해 여성과 남성이 서로의 같지 않음과 다르지 않음을 모두 인정하고 함께 살아가는데 기여하고자 한다. 한국 사회와 남성들이 돌봄윤리와 젠더 이해를 통해 과거와 현재의 자기를 돌아보고, 어디로 향해가야 할지를 함께 이야기할 수 있길 바란다.

개요

본 연구는 서울에 거주하는 빈곤 비혼 50-60대 당뇨인의 질병 서사를 통해 먹기(Eating)의 사회적 차원과 감정적 차원을 다각적으로 분석한다. 생애이야기 구술자 4인은 서울시의 Cities Changing Diabetes(CDC) 프로젝트의 일환으로 수행된 사회적으로 취약한 당뇨 환자 집단에 대한 질적 연구의 생애사 면담에 동의한 50-60대 당뇨인이다. 영양학적 사회생물학적 관점의 먹기 실천과 관행에 관한 연구들은 음식과 먹기에 관한 도구적인 견해를 취하고 식습관과 음식 선호를 인간 몸의 해부학적 기능과 관련하여 설명하곤 한다. 하지만 음식과 먹기는 신체적 생존과 사회적 관계와 깊숙이 연관되어 있기에, 본 연구는 ‘사회물질적 실천(socio-material practices: Harbers, Mol and Stollmeijer, 2002)’으로 먹기의 의미를 탐구하고자 한다. 이를 바탕으로 당뇨인의 자기 돌봄 뿐 아니라 돌봄 관계망에서 이루어지는 생성적 힘을 살펴보고자 한다.

Jung-Hwa Ha is a professor in the Department of Social Welfare at Seoul National University in South Korea. She earned her Ph.D. in Social Work and Sociology from the University of Michigan. Prior to joining Seoul National University, she worked as a post-doctoral research associate at the Waisman Center at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and as an assistant professor at the University of Chicago.

Ha’s research interests encompass various aspects of older adults’ social relationships and support, stress and coping, bereavement, end-of-life care, and dementia care. Her work has delved into the effects of stressful life transitions, such as widowhood and health decline, on the social and psychological well-being of older adults. Additionally, she has explored how various social and psychological factors may moderate the negative consequences of these transitions. Ha’s recent work investigated the effects of childlessness on the well-being of older adults in East and Southeast Asia and has examined cultural differences in end-of-life care planning. She is also actively engaged in intervention research aimed at informing social work practice. Notably, she has recently developed a guide for advance care planning for older adults with mild dementia and their families.

Sangeun Shin is an Associate Professor in the Department of Linguistics and the Graduate Program in Speech-Language Pathology at Chungnam National University. She also works at the university’s Speech-Language Therapy Center and leads the Communication and Assistive Technology (CAAT) Laboratory. Dr. Shin’s research focuses on individuals with complex communication needs who require augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), including children and adults with developmental disabilities, aphasia, and neurodegenerative conditions. Her primary interests include examining the relationship between cognitive processing and communication performance in the use of AAC devices, identifying core vocabulary across various conversational contexts, and developing comprehensive AAC assessment protocols and diagnostic classification systems. Her work aims to enhance the quality and accessibility of AAC services throughout the lifespan.

간호의 본질인 돌봄은 돕는 행위로 간호 대상자의 신체적, 정서적, 사회적, 영적 안녕을 도모한다. 인간, 환경, 건강, 간호는 간호의 지식체를 구성하는 주요 개념으로 간호의 메타패러다임으로 제시되고 있다. 간호학생은 간호사가 되기 위해 간호의 메타패러다임과 간호전문직관을 중심으로 간호의 본질을 학습하게 된다. 이 과정에서 인간존중과 대인관계, 의사소통의 중요성이 강조된다. 또한 간호학생은 2년간의 다양한 간호현장에서 실습을 통해 간호에 필요한 간호지식과 술기를 습득하고, 문제해결능력과 전문간호인으로서의 자질을 함양하게 된다.

누구나 환자가 되면 의료인으로부터 관심과 보살핌을 잘 받기를 원한다. 그러나 임상현장에서는 환자가 기대하는 돌봄과 간호사가 실제 제공하는 돌봄 사이에 차이가 존재한다. 이는 환자나 간호사 모두에게 갈등 요소가 될 수 있다. 이러한 돌봄의 간극은 의료 환경의 복잡성, 인력 부족, 업무 과중, 그리고 환자 개개인의 요구와 기대의 다양성 등 다양한 요인에 기인한다고 할 수 있다. 특히 환자와 간호사의 보편적 돌봄과 전문적 돌봄의 인식에 차이가 있을 수 있다. 돌봄의 간극은 환자의 만족도를 저하시키고 간호사의 직무 스트레스를 유발할 수 있으며, 궁극적으로 간호의 질에 부정적인 영향을 미친다.

환자가 기대하는 돌봄과 간호사가 제공하는 돌봄의 간극을 좁히기 위해서 환자 중심의 돌봄을 실천할 수 있는 간호사의 역량과 윤리적 책임 의식이 필요하다. 간호사는 환자의 신체적 문제 해결 뿐만 아니라 환자의 주관적 경험에 관심을 갖고 적절히 반응할 수 있어야 한다. 또한 환자와 간호사가 적극적으로 소통하고 협력하는 노력이 필요하다. 환자는 자신의 요구와 기대를 간호사에게 명확히 전달하고 조절력을 가질 수 있어야 하고, 간호사는 환자의 요구를 경청하며 환자를 이해하고 수용하는 태도를 가져야 한다. 또한 의료기관은 간호사의 업무 환경을 개선하고, 적절한 인력 배치와 전문성 계발을 위한 정책적 지원을 지속적으로 해야 한다.

I am an Associate Professor in the School of Computer Science and Engineering at KOREATECH (Korea University of Technology and Education). My research interests span a broad range of topics in the area of mobile and ubiquitous computing and IoT. I am interested in designing creative systems and conducting experimental system research for challenging real-world problems. I am particularly interested in devising new mobile applications/services, tackling related technical problems, and designing systems for the applications, and building working prototype. Before joining KOREATECH, I was a research professor in the Department of Computer Science at KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology).

Junehwa Song is a Professor and KAIST-endowed Chair Professor in the School of Computing, KAIST, Korea. Prior to joining KAIST, he worked as a research staff member at IBM T.J. Watson Research Center, Yorktown Heights, NY. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from University of Maryland at College Park, and BS in Computer Science from Seoul National University. Prof. Song’s research interest includes systems research issues broadly across Mobile-IoT systems, Care computing and platforms, Wearables, mobile machine learning platforms, applied for social, pervasive and urban spaces. He has been extensively publishing in the related research areas. He has also been granted more than 50 patents. He served the editorial boards of the IEEE TMC (Transactions on Mobile Computing), ACM IMWUT, and associate editor-in-chief IEEE Pervasive Computing. He served ACM MobiSys 2022 (International conference on Mobile Systems, Applications, and Services) as the program co-chair, ACM MobiSys 2019 as the general co-chair, IEEE MDM (International conference on Mobile Data Management) 2017 as the general co-chair, ACM SenSys (International Conference on Embedded Networked Sensor Systems) 2015 as the general chair, and ACM UbiComp (International Joint Conference on Pervasive and Ubiquitous Computing) 2014 as the program co-chair. He is serving or served on the steering committee of ACM SenSys, ACM HotMobile, ACM UbiComp. He has been also on the program committees of major conferences in the areas such as ACM MobiSys, ACM SenSys, ACM MobiComp, ACM/IEEE IPSN, ACM UbiComp, ACM HotMobile, IEEE INFOCOM, ACM WebConf, IEEE PerCom, ACM Multimedia, etc. He and his team are the recipient of the best video award of MobiSys 2017, the best of CHI Honorable Mention Award 2014, the best paper award of ACM CSCW 2014, the honorable mention award of ACM MobileHCI 2014, the best demo award of ACM MobiSys 2012, the best demo award of IEEE SECON 2012, the best paper honorable mention of ACM CSCW 2011, the best paper award of IEEE MDM 2007. He is the recipient of the KAIST Award of Academic Excellence, the KAIST Award of Intellect of New Frontier, and the KAIST Technology Innovation Award.
